Mathew George

Mathew George, CFA

Vice President

Mathew is responsible for managing the venture investment and divestiture activities of TELUS Corp. Mathew joined TELUS Ventures in June 2001 from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority where he was responsible for the global co-investment and direct private equity investment activities of ADIA's US$4 billion Private Equity fund. Mathew has also worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Warburg Dillon Read and Barclays de Zoete Wedd both in London and New York, and with the Investment Management Group at Paribas Asset Management in Paris. Mathew holds a Master of Business Management from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commericiales (HEC) in Paris, with specialization in Analytical Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Mathew also holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Regional Engineering College (REC) in Calicut, India. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Apparent Networks, Hostopia, Vision Critical and the Arts Club Theatre Company. Mathew is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute and the Vancouver Society of Financial Analysts.

 
Alan Strachan

Alan Strachan, P.Eng.

Director

Alan is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities in the Network Infrastructure sector as well as for conducting technology assessments of all potential investment opportunities for TELUS Ventures. Alan has more than 25 years of experience in data, IP and fibre optic communications and is currently a member of the DSL and Messaging Forums. Alan has worked in network planning, data communications, major account sales, special services, TELUS Internet Services, the TELUS IP-One (managed VoIP telecom) initiative, as well as on the original DARPA project. Alan has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering specializing in Photonics from the University of Victoria. He has been a member of the IEEE for 25 years and has held various executive positions including Chairman of the Victoria Section. He also sits on the advisory board of the Continuing Studies Program at the University of British Columbia in Internet Administration and e-Business.

 
Greg Oyhenart

Greg Oyhenart

Director

Greg is responsible for investment opportunities in the Enhanced Data and Business Applications sector as well as co-ordinating the strategic sponsorship of new investments within TELUS. Greg joined TELUS Ventures in June 2005, after 15 years at TELUS where he held roles in Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources. Greg was also previously the Director of Marketing with a Vancouver start-up software company working on text input technologies for mobile devices. Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Simon Fraser University, a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Business Administration from Queen's University. Greg acts as a project advisor to the Queen's School of Business MBA program and sits as an Observer on the Atreus Networks Board of Directors.

 
Tanasut Rasmidatta

Tanasut Rasmidatta, CMA, CFA

Director

Tanasut is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities in the Wireless Applications sector as well as co-ordinating the financial analysis and valuation of prospective investment opportunities. Tanasut joined TELUS Ventures in 2004 after five years as a senior investment analyst at the largest venture capital fund in Manitoba where he was involved in the assessment of new investment opportunities, the management of divestitures, and served on the Board of Directors for a number of portfolio companies. Prior to that, Tanasut was a founder and CFO for a start-up Internet service provider that grew to become one of the largest ISPs in Manitoba over a four year period. Tanasut graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Computer Science. Tanasut has also completed the Canadian Securities Course, the Canadian Futures Course and the Canadian Options Course. Tanasut sits as an Observer on the Rx Networks Board of Directors, and is a member of the Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of BC, the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute and the Vancouver Society of Financial Analysts.

 
Michael Kubik

Michael Kubik, CFA

Sr. Financial Analyst

Michael is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities in the Digital Media sector as well as co-ordinating the portfolio monitoring activities of TELUS Ventures. Prior to joining TELUS Ventures in 2004, Michael worked as a consultant for Accenture and PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting, which was subsequently acquired by IBM Business Consulting. During that time Michael was involved in a number of projects, including commercialization assessments of new technology products and the analysis of synergies for merger and acquisition proposals. Prior to consulting Michael worked as a project manager for a business-to-business Internet portal start-up. Michael holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honours) from the University of British Columbia and is member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute and the Vancouver Society of Financial Analysts.
