Walking Parallel to a Wall

Objects mounted between 685 mm (27") and 2030 mm (80") above the finished floor shall protrude no more than 100 mm (4") into the accessible route.

Objects mounted less than 685 mm (27") can protrude any amount into the accessible route but may not diminish the minimum clear width of the accessible route.

Walking Perpendicular to a Wall

Free Standing Overhanging Objects

A free standing object (ie. desk) in a accessible route must have a lower leading edge of 685 mm(27") or less if the width between the legs or attachment to the floor is greater than 305 mm (12").

Objects Mounted on Posts or Pylons

A free standing object mounted on posts or pylons may overhang a maximum 305 mm (12") if mounted from 685 mm (27") to 2030 mm (80") above the ground.

Headroom

Accessible routes shall have a minimum of 2030 mm (80") clear headroom
