  1. TELUS Communications Inc. recommends the installation of conduit/raceway to house the terminal wiring from the protector terminal to the desired locations of the telephone outlets.  The benefits to the customer in placing conduit are:
  1. Mechanical protection for cables, leading to reduced interruptions of service caused by damage.
  2. Reduced electrical interference.
  3. Fast service on new or additional requirements
  4. Facilitates flexibility of office layouts.
  5. Increased security from wire-tapping.
  6. Improves the general appearance of the building.
  7. Reduces spread of toxic gases and fire from communication cables.
  1. For the protection of you communications equipment, life and building, TELUS Communications Inc. requires the placement of a No. 6 green insulated A.W.G. or larger ground wire at the protector terminal.  This ground wire shall be connected to a suitable building ground electrode and installed as specified by The Canadian Electrical Code Part 1.  It is the builder's/owner's/developer's responsibility to provide and install the ground wire.
