Provision of Network Service and Facilities

  1. The provision of Network Communications Facilities in buildings is dependant upon suitable right-of-way, building access, building space and required housing facilities being available for the installation of network cabling and equipment. 

  2. The building owner/developer or customer shall provide the necessary approved space and cable housing to facilitate the installation of TELUS Communications Inc. network cabling and equipment on private property.

  3. The provision of communication space and cable housing facilities shall conform to the applicable rules and regulations of the Electrical Protection Act of Alberta and The Canadian Electrical Code.  Alberta Building Code,  specifications and requirements of  TELUS Communications Inc., and/or the laws and requirements of any other legally authorized bodies having jurisdiction.

  4. The provision of service facilities is dependent on the customer providing at his cost the necessary building entrance facilities (ie. raceway, conduit, interface boxes, cabinets, panels, etc.) on private property as shown on the original TELUS Communications Inc. layout plan which is developed in conjunction with the developer/owner.  Should the customer wish to deviate from the original plan, the customer shall pay TELUS Communications Inc. for any additional costs (Material, Labour and Engineering) incurred by by TELUS Communications Inc. due to any such deviation, or proceed according the the original agreed upon plan.

  5. Failure to comply with the rules, regulation, specifications and requirements in Item 3 will delay the provision of service until such time that the deviation has been rectified, or may result in the assessment of additional service charges as defined in Item 4.

  6. It is the building owner or customer's responsibility to arrange for the removal and replacement of ceiling tiles.

  7. TELUS Communication Inc will not drill through floors or walls of building unless authorization is provided by the building owner or customer.

  8. It is the building owner or customer's responsibility to arrange for the initial placement, removal and replacement of all fire stopping requirements within a building.

  9.  TELUS Communications Inc. will not disturb tenants on one floor of a building in the process of providing service to a tenant on another floor, unless approval in writing has been obtained from all affected parties by the tenant requesting service.

  10. TELUS Communications Inc. will not permit its employees to work in areas considered hazardous to their health and welfare.

  11. It should NOT BE ASSUMED that telephone network services will be supplied from the same location as power service.

  12. Network communication services for both residential and commercial building will require a suitable grounding electrode or ground wire as specified by TELUS Communications Inc.  The grounding electrode will normally consist of the grounded conductor of the power consumer service, which is connected to the main metallic water service into the building, the communications protector grounding conductor may be connected to the power service entrance metallic conduit, service equipment enclosures, of the grounding conductor of the power consumer service.
    The grounding requirements will be specified by TELUS Communications Inc and will be dependent upon the type of service required and size of project under consideration
    The grounding electrode and all material used to provide the ground shall conform to the requirements outlined in The Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 (Rule 60-706) and TELUS grounding requirements.
