  1. If the network service facility is to be aerial (approval required from TELUS Communications Inc.), the maximum aerial span allowed will be 20 meters from TELUS Communications Inc. serving pole line.  TELUS Communications Inc. shall attach its service facility to the building and enter the building conduit furnished by the building owner or occupant.  (TELUS Communications Inc. BICS representative should be contacted at the planning stage for all conduit requirements.)  See Section 1
  2. The point of attachment shall be:  Located at a point on the outside wall where clear access to the service pole can be obtained.
  1. Located above ground level at the building, to enable conformance to the ground clearance as specified in the Electrical Protection Act (E.P.A.) of Alberta.  When necessary, a mast shall be provided by the building owner or occupant in order to obtain the specified clearance required.  
  2. Separation from the light, power and lightning conductors to the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 Section 60, the Electrical Protection Act of Alberta Part V, and the specification and requirements of TELUS Communications Inc..              

         

  1. Entrance conduit shall be rigid galvanized steel, P.V.C. or E.M.T. 32mm to 50mm in diameter.  Sizes and quantities shall be verified by TELUS Communications Inc. for each project under consideration.  A 2" hard gauge steel mast may be required for clearance.  See Section 3 - Residential Triplex and Fourplex Dwelling Units.
  2. The building attachment shall be made to a 16mm eye bolt or an adequately sized wall strap.  (Guy or loop type)  which is to be provided by the building owner or occupant.  This attachment shall have the capability to withstand a force of 4.9kn (1100lb)(500kg).
  3. The entrance of exposed external conduit shall be protected with a weatherhead or equivalent as per the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1, Section 6-114 and 6-116.
  4. For grounding requirements refer to Section 3 Grounding Requirements.
  5. The placement of pull boxes and/or junction boxes, either for external or internal applications, must be verified with TELUS Communications Inc. for size and location for each specific project.
