  1. TELUS Communications Inc. shall attach its network service wire to the provided 6mm hook and enter the entrance conduit supplied by the building owner or occupant (refer to Fig. A)

  1. The entrance conduit at the point of entry shall be:

i) Located on the outside wall where clear access to the service pole can be obtained.
ii) Located above ground level at the building to enable the appropriate ground clearance according to the Electrical Protection Act (E.P.A.) of Alberta.  When necessary, a securely mounted mast shall be provided to obtain E.P.A. specified clearances.  See Fig B.

  1. Subject to the regulations of the Canadian Transport Commission Railway Transport Committee

  2. Clearances of communication conductors and supporting structures adjacent to or above navigable waterways are subject to the regulations of Transport Canada

  3. The clearances may be reduced by 0.6m along, but not across, lanes or alleys when vehicles exceeding 4.3m are not expected

  4. This clearance must be maintained as measured in any direction from the water level, edge of the pool, over diving structures, lifeguard chairs, or any tall objects

  5. The maximum heights of communication conductors, supporting structures and equipment on land adjacent to, surrounding or near and airport are subject to the regulations of  Transport Canada


iii) Separated from light or power and lightning conductors, by 300mm to meet the provisions of the Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 Section 60, the Electrical Protection Act of Alberta Part V, and the specifications and requirements of TELUS Communications Inc.  See Fig. B.

  1. External conduit (E.M.T. or PVC-UV) exposed to weather shall be protected with a weatherhead, or equivalent, as per the Canadian Electrical Code part 1 Section 6-114 and 6-116.

  2. An open end 6mm building attachment hook shall be provided by owner/developer directly adjacent to the conduit entrance on all buildings.

  3. For grounding requirements refer to Section 3 Grounding Requirements
