The TELUS Intelligent Data Centres (IDCs) across Canada are world-class facilities for meeting current and future customer needs for hosted applications and data storage and management. At the IDCs TELUS manages applications and content for its customers including e-mail, web hosting, voice/text messaging services, e-commerce, data archiving, personal content and advanced web services. The IDCs have been designed to support mission critical e-business applications with maximum efficiency and security 24 hours a day. The facilities are connected to the Internet through our Tier-1 National IP backbone and extensive peering relationships provide direct access to customers and content worldwide.

TV and Video Services Network

TELUS' provides IPTV-based TV and Video-on-Demand services using IP-multicast and IP-unicast network technology. Unlike traditional video broadcast technology which sends all video signals to the home and is therefore very inefficient, TELUS' network is intelligent and efficient and delivers only the selected video content from the TELUS video head-end over its advanced IP core, regional and access networks to the home. TELUS' IP-based architecture is leading edge in the industry and will enable an evolution of service capabilities beyond TV and VOD to true on-demand and location independent services. The technology, which is still maturing, has the potential to securely deliver digital-rights encoded programs and movies, and to enable secure remote access and sharing of personally owned home videos and photograghs with family and friends.

High Speed Wireless Data Network

TELUS wireless data network is based on the North American CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) standard and uses the latest EVDO (Evolution Data Optimization) digital technology to increase the bandwidth of Wireless High Speed data services, providing better call quality and enhanced features on advanced wireless handsets and PDAs including Internet access, pictures and multimedia and GPS (Global Positioning System) location based services. Users with laptops equipped with EVDO can be connected to the Internet and their company LAN at high speed from any location with cellular EVDO coverage. And TELUS customers with CDMA and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) capable handsets can enjoy global roaming.
