TELUS' World-Class Network

TELUS' network is "world-class". This means it meets or exceeds "state-of-the-art" or "best-in-class" in terms of technology, performance, service enablement and reliability. And TELUS' network is national, delivering wired and wireless voice, data and video services across Canada.

The TELUS National Fibre Network employs Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) to create a diverse and robust network of ultra high-speed OC192 (10Gbps) light paths across Canada.

The TELUS National Wireless Network provides comprehensive coverage across Canada for analog and digital voice and messaging services and high speed Internet, data and multimedia services.

TELUS' Next Generation Network

TELUS' network is a leading-edge Internet Protocol based network referred to as the "TELUS Next Generation Network". Here are some quick facts:

  • TELUS was one of the first major communications providers in the world to deploy leading-edge IP-based Next Generation Network (NGN), a ubiquitous IP network architected for high quality voice, data and video applications.
  • TELUS deployed carrier scale VoIP capabilities on the NGN to carry long distance voice calls across Canada.
  • TELUS' NGN is a common platform for the delivery of seamless, secure and expedient voice and data services for all Canadians. New end-user focused applications and services will simply leverage the ubiquitous connectivity provided by the NGN and will not require the development of service specific overlay network.
  • Going forward, TELUS' NGN is a common infrastructure for the evolution to advanced converged services available anywhere over a choice of wired or wireless accesses and end-user devices.
