Josh Blair

Executive Vice-president, Human Resources

Josh is responsible for driving TELUS’ strategy to attract, develop and retain the best talent in the global communications industry, creating one of the best workplaces in Canada and supporting the more than 34,000 members of the TELUS team.

Josh joined TELUS in 1995 and previously served as Senior Vice-President, Human Resources Strategy and Business Support.

Over the past two years, Josh has built a best-in-class team focused on providing strategic HR support and has successfully recruited and developed many of Canada’s top HR leaders. Under his leadership, TELUS has earned global recognition from the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) for using learning to drive enterprise performance. In 2005, he was named Learning Leader of the Year at the international Thomson NETg Illuminati Awards.

Josh serves on the Board of Directors for the ASTD Certification Institute and the Board of Directors for Skills Canada BC. He is a professional engineer and graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria’s Electrical Engineering program. He is also a graduate of the Executive Program at the Queen’s School of Business.

 
Judy Shuttleworth

Judy Shuttleworth

Vice Chair, Human Resources

In her role as vice chair, Judy provides strategic HR support to the Executive Leadership Team as well as the Human Resources and Compensation Committee of the TELUS Board of Directors. In addition, she is offering mentorship support to Josh Blair as he transitions into his role as executive vice president, Human Resources.

At both BC TEL and TELUS, Judy has held a number of senior level positions in the Human Resources function and previously in line operations. Under her leadership, TELUS has earned esteemed international recognition as a best-in-class enterprise for learning, leadership development, team recognition and overall people practices. Judy has also been personally recognized as one of Canada's most influential and accomplished women as part of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 WXN Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100TM Awards.

Judy has attended executive programs at Queen's University in 1979 and the University of British Columbia in 1997, as well as the Verizon Executive Development Program in 1998. She is a member of the board of the Human Resources Committee of the Conference Board of Canada, the Society for Human Resources Management, the Telco Industrial Relations Committee and the Business Council of British Columbia.

 
Eros Spadotto

Eros Spadotto

Executive Vice-President, Technology Strategy

As a member of the TELUS technology team, Eros leads the creation and execution of TELUS' integrated wireline and wireless technology strategy and evolution. In his new role, Eros is responsible for determining TELUS' overall technology direction. Eros identifies opportunities, establishes the long-term direction of TELUS networks, and implements new technologies and services such as TELUS TV and CDMA wireless broadband services. He also leads a team responsible for designing the converged network for TELUS.

Prior to this role, Eros served as the executive vice president and chief technology officer of TELUS Mobility, where he successfully integrated TELUS Mobility's network operations after the acquisition of Clearnet Communications in 2000.

Prior to this position Eros held the executive positions of chief technology officer and chief information officer at Clearnet where he led the team that built both national iDEN (Mike) and PCS networks. Prior to joining Clearnet in 1995, Eros held senior management positions in engineering and marketing at Bell Mobility.

Eros holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Windsor in 1984 as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business in 1995.

 
John Watson

John Watson

Executive Vice-President and President, Consumer Solutions

In his role, John is responsible for consumer market growth in Canada by providing innovative and integrated Internet protocol, voice, wireless and wireline solutions. John brings significant experience to this role in client operations, channel marketing, sales management and loyalty and retention.

Prior to his current role, John was executive vice president & president Consumer Solutions (Alberta and British Columbia). John was also executive vice president, Client Operations of TELUS Mobility, a position he also held with Clearnet Communications prior to its acquisition by TELUS. John has held executive positions in channel marketing and sales management within Clearnet and also has experience in a number of industries including consumer packaged goods, healthcare/OTC products and management consulting.

John holds a Master of Business Administration degree from York University.

 
Janet Yale

Janet Yale

Executive Vice-president, Corporate Affairs

Based in Ottawa, Janet leads a national team responsible for the creation, execution and oversight of all aspects of TELUS corporate affairs. This includes the development and delivery of key strategies in the areas of public policy, law, regulation, government relations and corporate communications.

Janet was president of the Canadian Cable Television Association prior to joining TELUS. With more than 20 years of government and regulatory experience, Janet has held senior leadership positions at AT&T Canada, the CRTC and the Consumer's Association of Canada.

In addition to a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in 1975, Janet received a Master of Economics in 1976 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1981 from the University of Toronto. She was called to the Ontario Bar in April 1983. In 2004, Janet became a certified director through the ICD Director's Education Program.

As an active member of the Ottawa community, she is a member of the Board of Ashbury College, Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation, Great Canadian Theatre Company, the Ottawa Hospital, the Information Technology Association of Canada as well as a member of the board of directors of The Council for Business and the Arts in Canada and the Canadian Film Centre. She is also the chair of the board of directors of the Ottawa United Way/Centraide and Chair of the National Arts Centre Gala.

Janet was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. In 2001, the Canadian Women in Communications organization named Janet "Woman of the Year" and in 2004 and 2005, the Women's Executive Network named Janet one of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100TMAwards.
