19. segmented information
The Company’s reportable segments, which are used to manage the business, are Wireline and Wireless. The Wireline segment includes voice local, voice long distance, data and other telecommunication services excluding wireless. The Wireless segment includes digital personal communications services, equipment sales and wireless Internet services. Segmentation is based on similarities in technology, the technical expertise required to deliver the products and services, and the distribution channels used. Intersegment sales are recorded at the exchange value, which is the amount agreed to by the parties. The following segmented information is regularly reported to the Company’s chief operating decision maker.
