Jim Peters Executive Vice-President Corporate Development & General Counsel Jim is responsible for business development, regulatory and government affairs, strategy development, corporate secretary and legal affairs. Jim also has responsibility for consumer and employee privacy matters. Jim joined the TELUS Team in 1988 as a member of the legal department and became Director of Mergers and Acquisitions in 1990. In 1995, he was appointed Vice President Corporate Planning and Mergers and Acquisitions. Jim was a key member of the team that directed the merger of BC TELECOM and TELUS. Following the merger, Jim was named Executive Vice President Corporate Development and Emerging Businesses. In September 1999, he took on responsibilities of the Chief General Counsel portfolio. Jim led the TELUS Team's acquisition of Clearnet Communications Inc. Jim received his Bachelor of Science (Human Kinetics) degree from the University of Guelph in 1975 and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia in 1978. He was called to the British Columbia bar in 1979 and in 1993 he received his MBA from Simon Fraser University. Jim is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association. |
