$20,600 gift from TELUS’ TV for Good campaign helps the Neo-Natal program at the Sturgeon Hospital Foundation

St. Albert, AB TELUS is contributing $20,600 to the Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation thanks to TELUS’ TV for Good campaign. The campaign gave $25 towards the purchase of equipment to support children's health at the Sturgeon Hospital for every new customer who signed up for TELUS Optik TV in St. Albert over the last six months.

The funds will be used to purchase a radiant infant warmer machine which provides resuscitation and oxygen regulation to newborn babies who experience crisis during childbirth.

“Thank you, TELUS. The Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation is truly honored and grateful to be the recipients of this most generous gift in support of our Neo-Natal program,” said Katrina Black, Executive Director, Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation.

“TELUS is passionate about health care and we are proud to do our part. We are excited this gift will help those who need it the most in our community,” said Yolanta Miller, TELUS general manager for St. Albert. “This life-saving equipment for newborn babies will change lives in St. Albert. It’s heartening to see how our customers’ love of technology can translate into supporting those families who spend much of their time in the pediatric ward of our hospital with their kids.”

TELUS and its team members have given more than $265,000 to St. Albert community groups since 2000 through corporate donations and sponsorships. Additionally, TELUS will invest $1.5 million in St. Albert in 2012 to expand its 4G wireless network and introduce Optik TV to even more homes.

Since the campaign started in 2009, TELUS has given more than $6.5 million to 40 local community projects. Together, with the support of our customers, we have helped make communities stronger with new parks, improved healthcare and updated libraries.
