TELUS gives $150,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie on behalf of new
Optik TV customers
Airdrie, AB – TELUS is contributing $150,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie, thanks to TELUS’ TV for Good campaign which gave $100 on behalf of every new Optik TV customer in the community for the last year.
The Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie are using the gift to renovate and purchase equipment to outfit the TELUS Studio. The new facility, located in The Centre next to the Ron Ebbesen Arena, is geared toward youth in Grade 7 to 12 and will be used for a variety of multi-media programs including the popular DJ class which encourages kids to use technology in a creative way.
“On behalf of the staff, board and members of the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie, we would like to thank TELUS for this generous $150,000 gift to support our media and technology studio,” said Denisa Sanness, executive director, Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie. “Boys and Girls Clubs pride themselves on creating positive life changing impacts on children and youth in the community. With this boost from TELUS, young people have an opportunity to experience something new and exciting and open doors for their future.”
The Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie has recently expanded into The Centre. The Centre provides a safe, supportive venue for kids aged 12 and up where they learn to experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.
“We are thrilled our TV for Good campaign enabled our customers in Airdrie to choose a great service like Optik TV while supporting a very worthy cause,” said Brenda Desjardins, TELUS director of Customer Solutions Delivery for the community. “We know the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie provides valuable after-school programs which help our youth develop healthy lifestyles and a life-long passion for learning, leading and a sense of social responsibility.”
TELUS recently announced it will invest $1.8 million in Airdrie in 2012 to expand its 4G wireless network and introduce Optik TV to even more homes.
