Montreal, PQ - Inter.net Canada, one of Canada's foremost Internet Service Providers (ISPs), has signed an agreement valued at up to $13 million to outsource part of its network operations to TELUS Corporation. Coupled with Inter.net Canada's significant infrastructure investment, the two-year agreement with TELUS, one of Canada's leading telecommunications companies, will contribute to the development of Inter.net Canada's customer base. The outsourcing contract is a major step in Inter.net Canada's strategy to become the leader in Canada's residential and home office Internet access market. The agreement is also a strong endorsement of TELUS' national Internet backbone network and national service capabilities.

"The TELUS agreement not only reflects that we have the largest coverage of any ISP in Canada, but also gives us the opportunity to further expand our presence in areas such as Eastern and Western Canada," said Stéphane Goyette, president of Inter.net Canada. "By managing some of our network operations, TELUS will become one of our top-tier partners."

Inter.net Canada provides local Internet access to residential and home office customers through a global network of world-class telecommunications service providers. This enables it to offer clients extensive roaming through fast, reliable access numbers nationwide. With over 1,400 points of presence across North America, Inter.net Canada offers the best coverage in Canada. Inter.net's newly-signed contract guarantees the highest quality and performance levels in accordance with the SLA (Service Level Agreement) reached by the parties.

Added Goyette: "The TELUS agreement demonstrates Inter.net Canada's commitment to providing easy-to-use, readily available Internet access that better serves its customers. This will only continue in the future."

The agreement comes just after independent network analyst NetConfigs Ltd. rated the TELUS Internet backbone as the best Canadian national fibre optic Internet network in terms of connectivity.

"The contract with Inter.net Canada demonstrates TELUS is the Internet provider of choice, even for other Internet providers," says Francois Hardy, vice-president sales and marketing, global trading and partner solutions, TELUS Québec. "It is another example of our commitment to our data/IP national growth."
