Assisting communities in need worldwide.
Supporting Philippines disaster relief after Typhoon Haiyan
On November 7, Typhoon Haiyan struck the Guiuan region of the Philippines. Millions are struggling in the wake of the storm and a number of regions across the Philippines are in desperate need of immediate disaster relief, as well as support for rebuilding in the weeks and months ahead.
TELUS is dedicated to supporting those affected by the storm directly in the Philippines, as well as our Canadian customers and team members with family and loved ones in the country.
Taking care of those in need
TELUS has committed $100,000 to support relief efforts in the Philippines, both locally and globally.
The TELUS International Philippines Community Board is contributing $50,000 toward projects supporting disaster relief directly in the Philippines. Our TELUS Community Board members on are the ground in Manila and have firsthand knowledge of where help is needed the most. They will be able to target the funds to the organizations and areas where it will have the biggest impact.
TELUS is donating an additional $50,000 in support of the Canadian Red Cross and its commitment to providing aid and assistance to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. We have also activated a text-to-donate campaign through the Canadian Red Cross enabling our customers to help support relief efforts.

Supporting our customers
To ensure customers and team members in Canada are able to connect with their loved ones, TELUS is crediting all home phone long distance calls from B.C. and Alberta to the Philippines between November 8 and 30.
Additionally, TFC (The Filipino Channel) on Optik TV channel 2602 and CNNi channel 827 will be on free preview from November 11 to 24 and will have special coverage on the ground in the Philippines.
Helping our team members in the Philippines give back
While our TELUS International Philippines sites in Manila have remained unaffected and operational throughout this challenging time, Philippines team members have felt the impact of Typhoon Haiyan and are eager to help those suffering across the country.
We are creating opportunities for these team members to support disaster relief in their own backyard by:
- Matching donations from TELUS International Philippines team members until November 15.
- Coordinating volunteer opportunities for team members with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to create emergency relief kits.
- Refocusing the upcoming TELUS Day of Giving to typhoon relief activities.
Thank you for joining us in our relief efforts. Our hearts go out to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
