Community Boards
TELUS Community Boards are an innovative and groundbreaking effort that puts decision-making in the hands of local leaders who know their communities best. This approach helps make our financial support accessible to the grassroots organizations that make such a tremendous difference in building stronger communities.
Eleven TELUS Community Boards are making a positive impact across Canada from coast-to-coast in Victoria, Vancouver, Thompson Okanagan, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Rimouski, Quebec City and Atlantic Canada.
TELUS has expanded its community board strategy to its international operations by launching a board in the Philippines in October 2011, and a board in Guatemala in October and a board in El Salvador in November.
Since their inception in 2005, the Community Boards have contributed over $30 million to both national and grassroots charitable organizations and supported more than 2,300 community projects. In 2011, the boards donated a total of $5.05 million in support of 418 projects in Canadian communities. Contributions made through our local Community Boards, are made possible by our customers and our shareholders.
The TELUS Community Board model was a contributing factor to TELUS receiving the Association of Fundraising Professionals 2010 Freeman Philanthropic Services Award for Outstanding Corporation. We are proud to be the first Canadian company to receive this prestigious international award in recognition of our culture of giving.

In 2012, funds available through TELUS community investment programs will be comprised of charitable donations, and will be allocated through our local TELUS Community Boards and Community Action Teams. TELUS Community Boards and Community Action Teams will only consider applications for charitable donations that meet our criteria.
TELUS recognizes the value and importance of all community programs, unfortunately the number of requests for funding we receive outnumbers those we are able to fill.
Community Action Teams
TELUS Community Action Teams - much like our TELUS Community Boards - is an innovative effort that puts decision-making in the hands of local leaders who know their communities best. This approach helps make our financial support accessible to the grassroots organizations that make such a tremendous difference in building stronger communities.
Eight TELUS Community Action Teams are making a positive regional impact across Canada: Vancouver Island, Sea to Sky, BC North, BC South, Alberta North, Alberta Central, Alberta South, Ontario.
Since their inception in 2007, the Community Action Teams have contributed over $1 million to both national and grassroots charitable organizations and supported more than 361 community projects. In 2011, these teams donated a total of $230,000 in support of 90 projects in Canadian communities. Contributions made through our local Community Action Teams, are made possible by our customers and our shareholders.
