TELUS Hearts At Work campaign raises funds for more than 400 charitable organizations

Calgary, AB - TELUS employees chose over 400 charitable organizations to be their Valentines as part of the 1999 Hearts At Work campaign in Alberta, which raised more than $900,000 for charity. Proceeds from the fourth annual campaign, which ran from Sept. 27 to Nov.12, will be distributed in February to the various organizations.

Hearts At Work is the annual charitable giving campaign for Alberta-based TELUS employees. Employees pledge donations to the charities of their choice through payroll deductions. TELUS matches these pledges dollar for dollar and bears all administrative costs associated with the campaign. Employees volunteer their time to plan and implement campaign strategies and awareness activities.

"TELUS is proud to support its employees' initiative and deep commitment to Alberta's communities and the charitable sector," said Joanna Wyatt, TELUS community affairs director. "We're pleased to build on our long history of contributing to the communities in which we live and work."

Since 1996, this fundraising effort has contributed almost $3 million to hundreds of charitable organizations.
