Get smart, give smart: TELUS supports Atlantic Canada Boys and Girls Clubs with new Smartphone donation campaign
From April 1 to June 30, a portion of Smartphone sales supports Atlantic Canada kidsHalifax, N.S., – TELUS today announced its further commitment to helping at-risk youth across the Atlantic Canada provinces with a new campaign to raise money for the 31 Boys and Girls Clubs in Atlantic Canada. From April 1 to June 30, TELUS will donate $25 from the sale of every Smartphone sold in Atlantic Canada to the local chapters of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. “Each community faces different needs with regards to youth, so this channeled regional support from TELUS is really going to make a difference for our programs and the youth we serve in Atlantic Canada,” said Pam Jolliffe, President and CEO, Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. “With the help of TELUS and their customers we can extend the reach of the hands we lend to youth dealing with issues like abuse, addiction, poverty, teen pregnancy. ““Our ‘get smart, give smart' campaign is a wonderful opportunity for TELUS and our customers to give where we live by supporting an important cause in Atlantic Canada,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO, TELUS. “The Boys and Girls Clubs in Atlantic Canada are making tremendous strides in reaching out to at-risk children and youth through healthy physical, education and social development programs that are tailored to meet the specific needs of each community.”Boys and Girls Clubs in Atlantic Canada offer children, from pre-school to young adulthood, a safe place to channel their energies into positive, challenging activities that encourage personal growth, learning, community involvement and healthy living. The Clubs provide services to young people and families in high-need communities where many children are considered to be at-risk.Today's announcement follows on the heels of yesterday's inauguration of the TELUS Atlantic Canada Community Board which will donate $300,000 to local charitable organizations in Atlantic Canada this year.TELUS expects to contribute more than $700,000 to Atlantic Canada communities this year, through various local community investment initiatives including the new community board.
