Graduate Engineering Program

The Graduate Engineering Program provides opportunities in the Network Operations, Technology Strategy, Partner Solutions, and Business Solutions business units.

What is Business Transformation & Technology Operations (BTTO)?

As TELUS' largest enabler business unit, Business Transformation & Technology Operations (BTTO) delivers future friendly solutions to our clients and team members on a national scale, including a robust suite of voice, data, IP and wireless services. BTTO also leads strategic and transformational programs such as broadband wireless and wireline initiatives and next generation service management projects. Our team members take our technology strategies from concept to operational deployment in the marketplace in the most effective manner to further assist us in outpacing the competition.

Participants of the Graduate Engineering Program work across vice-president areas in BTTO, including Engineering Operations and Implementation, National Service Infrastructure Support, Business Performance Improvement and New Service Execution.

What is Technology Strategy?

Our team works in partnership with other business units across the company to ensure TELUS remains a national and global leader when it comes to technology and innovation. We are responsible for determining TELUS' overall technology direction and integrated technology strategy, vendor management, network and service architectures, design and standards, access development and convergence and the TELUS labs and innovation centres.

What is Partner Solutions?

Partner Solutions (PS) is an entrepreneurial team based across Canada and in select U.S. markets, providing a wide range of carrier services to telecommunication providers and operator services for both retail and wholesale clients. The goal is to help service providers grow their business and take advantage of innovative opportunities to serve their markets by implementing technology, processes and solutions that improve client satisfaction and operational effectiveness for long-term sustainable business benefits.

What is Business Solutions?

Business Solutions (BS) provides innovative communication solutions to business clients. This team is comprised of Business Marketing, Client Care, Solutions & Product Marketing, and Sales, all of whom focus on delivering a superior client experience.

The program

Our three year Graduate Engineering Program provides a great opportunity to learn about the different business units mentioned above, while advancing your technical knowledge and leadership skills.

You will enter the organization as an Engineer-In-Training, and throughout the three years, you will have the opportunity to work with a mentor towards obtaining your P.Eng. designation. You will gain experience and competencies in many different areas of the organization, enabling you to work independently, assume significant responsibilities, and work on more challenging and complex projects as you progress.

Rotations

Rotation placements are typically one year in length and are based on a number of considerations including personal interest, business needs, strengths and areas of development. You will generally remain in the same geographical area where you started the program.

You can expect to work on some of the following exciting wireline and wireless projects throughout your rotations:

Upon graduation, you will have the opportunity to join one of the teams where you had a rotation, or another opportunity that may arise through various contacts made during your rotations.

What does it take?

To be a successful candidate, you must have an engineering degree, strong technical skills, and demonstrate leadership skills. Creativity, ability to be innovative, flexibility, and an interest in the telecommunications industry are also key.
