TELUS Broadcast Services is in the business of providing the broadcast quality transport services required by television and radio broadcasters in Alberta and British Columbia. The TELUS Broadcast Services team is a virtual team spread out across the country.
As a team, we provide a variety of services required for news collection and distribution, news story sharing between sister stations across our territory, local channel collection for the Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite companies and electronic news gathering services for the broadcast industry.
NewsRouteTM
NewsRouteTM is the trademarked name that TELUS Broadcast Services uses for its ENG (Electronic News Gathering) Service. It provides for one-way broadcast quality video transmission from the NewsRoute box to a Television Operations Centre (TOC). There are TELUS TOC's located in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.
In the competitive world of broadcast news, timely access to breaking news is paramount to success. TELUS NewsRoute Service makes electronic news-gathering easy and reliable. Our extensive network of BENG boxes provides top quality, quick and convenient service from locations throughout British Columbia and, Alberta and Ontario.
The NewsRoute (BENG) box has a combination lock on it. Inside the NewsRoute box is AC power and video and audio jacks. The crew can plug into the NewsRoute box and call the appropriate TOC to begin transmission.
