Strategy Magazine Brand of the Year – October 2008

Creativity Annual Award for Best Business-to-Business Website – September 2008
A 2008 Mike campaign won a Best Business-to-Business Website Award at the 38th Creativity Annual Awards in the United States. The Creativity Annual Awards is one of the longest running international advertising and graphic design competitions for print, web and advertising design. The campaign website, called Noordinaryphone.com, was the only Canadian entrant to win an award in this category. The website was developed as part of the integrated marketing campaign to reinforce the unique Mike brand and promote the solution.

Frost & Sullivan North American Award for Market Leadership – September 2008
U.S.-based consulting firm Frost & Sullivan selected TELUS as the recipient of its 2008 North American Award for Market Leadership in videoconferencing services. Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has exhibited market share leadership through the implementation of market strategy. TELUS has displayed excellence in all areas of market leadership, including identifying market challenges, drivers, restraints, strategy development, and addressing these market dynamics. Furthermore, TELUS has continually demonstrated solutions for monitoring market changes and implementing superior market strategies.

Cisco Global Public Sector Partner of the Year – April 2008
TELUS was named Cisco’s 2007 Global Public Sector Partner of the Year, the first Canadian company to receive this honour.The prestigious international award recognizes our growing success in the public sector. We were one of 11 companies selected from more than 3,000 Cisco channel partners for global excellence and outstanding performance in 2007.

TELUS is one of Cisco’s largest public sector partners in Canada, and its fastest growing. Our public sector business has increased more than 30 per cent since 2005, in eastern Canada alone, with multi-year contracts in major government, healthcare and education organizations across the country.

Best Directory Assistance Service Award - October 2007
TELUS Operator Services has been honoured with an award for Best Directory Assistance Service within the Americas. The award was presented in Barcelona, Spain, at the International DA Conference and Awards where TELUS Operator Services stood out among providers in North America, Central America and South America. TELUS was recognized for demonstrating best practices across all key areas including service quality, performance management, people management and technology.

Top National Directory Assistance Provider - October 2007
TELUS was named the Top National Directory Assistance Provider in Canada by The Paisley Group, a directory assistance/operator services consulting company. TELUS placed first in passed calls, the hallmark of directory assistance. This measure combines customer fulfillment and customer care to measure whether a customer received correct information while being treated in a professional manner by call answer agents.

Business Week's 2007 Info Tech 100 - June 2007
Celebrated as a leader in reinvention, TELUS was recognized in Business Week's 2007 Info Tech 100 - an honour distinguishing the world's top 100 technology performers. Companies slotted on this highly esteemed list must first qualify with at least $300 million in revenues in the last year. With approximately 500 contenders, companies were ranked on four criteria: return on equity, shareholder return and revenue growth and total revenues.

NAIOP Office Lease of the Year - February 2007
The National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP) presented TELUS with the Office Lease of the Year award at the Real Estate Excellence (REX) Awards, recognizing our Toronto building project at 25 York Street.

TELUS' submission to NAIOP focused on the project's cutting-edge design, environmental stewardship, value pricing, proximity to transit and inspiring workspaces. When the Toronto building is completed, it will house about 2,000 Toronto team members and our future friendly technology, and will be a testament to a new standard for environmentally sustainable development.

The REX Awards celebrate achievements within the office and industrial real estate industry in Greater Toronto. NAIOP hands out five team awards: Industrial Development of the Year, Office Development of the Year, Industrial Lease of the Year, Office Lease of the Year and Investment Deal of the Year.

Best national directory assistance provider in Canada - November 2006
The TELUS Operator Services team was ranked number one in Canada in The Paisley Group's semi-annual audit of customer service in the Canadian directory assistance industry, for the fourth time. TELUS received first place results in all three major industry measurements: customer fulfillment; customer care; and passed calls.

The Paisley Group, a directory assistance/operator services consulting company, also conducts a semi-annual North American audit each fall. In the 2006 fall audit, TELUS was ranked second among third-party providers in the United States.

Canadian Marketing Awards - November 2006
Three of TELUS' direct marketing campaigns were recognized for their exceptional creativity and strong response rate at the Canadian Marketing Awards (CMA) gala in November 2006, the largest marketing event in Canada. TELUS won gold for 2005 TELUS Holidays e-mail campaign, silver for the November Unaddressed Acquisition campaign, and an award of merit for the TELUS PERKS Holiday Loyalty Program. All three campaigns exceeded the targeted response rate.

Digital Marketing Awards - November 2006
TELUS' Consumer Solutions won gold at the 2006 Digital Marketing Awards for its business-to-business Mike microsite. To underscore the value of Mike in industries such as construction trade and transportation, the Mike website features a series of vignettes demonstrating how businesspeople on the go can stay in touch with their clients, suppliers and contractors at once or individually. Combining simple diagrams of people in workplace situations and a voiceover explaining how Mike can help improve productivity, the website effectively reveals the power of the Mike network.

International certification - November 2006
The NSS Group, the world's foremost independent security testing facility, awarded TELUS' security solution AssureLogic NSS Approved certification. Developed by Assurent Secure Technologies (a Canadian provider of IT security services acquired by TELUS in April 2006), AssureLogic is a unique web application firewall product. It offers businesses using web-based applications such as web banking and online reservations a sophisticated level of protection from security threats such as attacks from hackers and new forms of malicious worms and viruses. This achievement is significant because NSS Group certifications are recognized world-wide as essential when it comes to security products. Many vendors consider NSS certification a prerequisite for any security product to be considered for purchase. AssureLogic is currently the only web application firewall product to achieve NSS Approved certification.

Channel Elite Awards - October 2006
The TELUS Geomatics team was the recipient of three 2006 Channel Elite Awards presented by Computer Dealer News (CDN). CDN's Channel Elite Awards recognize the achievements of IT channel professionals. Awards are given in six categories, and each category has three winners: bronze, silver and gold. This year TELUS excelled in three categories: Solution Provider of Year (gold); Best Online Solution (gold); and Best Enterprise Solution (silver).

#1 Wireless Carrier in North America - 2005
At the end of 2005, for the fourth consecutive year, TELUS Mobility was ranked the number one wireless carrier in North America by N. Moore Capital, Ltd., an independent New York company providing financial analysis of the telecommunications industry. N. Moore Capital's report analyzed the third-quarter 2005 performance of the 22 major wireless carriers in North America based on five main metrics: subscriber growth; average revenue per subscriber; churn; free cash flow per subscriber; and cost of acquisition.

Store of the Year - 2005
In 2005, TELUS Mobility's corporate retail store at the Scarborough Town Centre shopping mall won this international award at GlobalShop's 2005 NASFM Retail Design Awards.  The design was recognized for “evolving the classification of mobile technology to the next level.” 

Industry Achievement Award for Subscriber Technology Innovation - 2005
In 2005, TELUS Mobility, along with its partners Digit Wireless and LG Electronics, was honoured by the CDMA Development Group for the Fastap LG 6190 phone.  Exclusive to TELUS Mobility, the phone integrates a full set of text keys around a standard numeric keypad, allowing for fast and easy text messaging and other data input.

Cisco Awards - April 2005
In April 2005, TELUS received three awards from Cisco Systems: Global Innovation Partner, Partner of the Year (Canada) and Western Canada Advanced Technology Partner. These awards are a reflection of TELUS' Internet Protocol (IP) leadership, sales and marketing commitment and success in delivering innovative, flexible and differentiated solutions including IP based technology and security offerings that are based on customers' needs.

Global Innovation Partner
This award recognizes the Cisco partner that has developed an exceptional set of best practices, brought an innovative new model to market or developed a unique application to fulfill a customer or market need in 2004. TELUS received this award because we developed a unique security offering in 2004 to meet the needs of business customers. Working in partnership with Cisco, TELUS developed ANGEL, a highly customized managed security solution that provides network access control for enterprise accounts. Launched in 2004, ANGEL was the result of 12 months' collaboration between TELUS and Cisco.

Partner of the Year - Canada
This award recognizes TELUS' outstanding partnership as demonstrated through year-over-year revenue growth in the enterprise and commercial markets, innovation in advanced technology solutions and high levels of customer satisfaction. TELUS received this award due to our high customer satisfaction ranking (4.2 overall ranking out of a maximum of five) as measured by Cisco surveys and remain Cisco's fastest growing partner in terms of year over year revenue growth. Additionally, TELUS continues to be aggressive in the development of new managed IP Solutions such as IP-One and IP-One Innovation.

Western Canada Advanced Technology Partner
This award recognizes the top Cisco Advanced Technology Partner for Western Canada. TELUS won this award as a result of our success selling Cisco IP Telephony in municipalities, primarily in the interior of British Columbia and West Vancouver.

Top 10 for Workplace Diversity - 2004
In 2004, Canadian Business Magazine ranked TELUS amongst the Top 10 Canadian corporations in terms of hiring visible minorities and aboriginal peoples.

TELUS Directory Assistance services number one in Canada - 2004
In November 2004, TELUS was recognized for excellence in directory assistance services, achieving the number one ranking on the Paisley Group's National Directory Assistance Performance Index. TELUS ranked first in the areas of customer care with 96 per cent of customers being cared for and passed calls, which is the hallmark of a quality directory assistance experience, with 90.7 per cent, making TELUS the overall service leader of Canadian companies surveyed. The Paisley Group uses a mystery caller, quantitative approach to rank customer fulfillment, customer care, operator work time and passed calls, which rates as the most important assessment on the index ranking. Criteria such as time spent on the line with the customer and the accuracy of number response is assessed. The Paisley Group is the leading directory assistance/operator services consulting company and the premier independent measurer of database accuracy, customer care and fulfillment in the industry.

GlobeTrotter.net selected as Quebec's second best portal
In December 2004, GlobeTrotter.net was declared the second-best portal for general content in the province of Quebec by Boomerang Prices. GlobeTrotter.net, which is the French equivalent to mytelus.com, was recognized for the quality, focus and relevancy of its content (news, entertainment and search capabilities), as well as the usability and structure for Internet users. Boomerang Prices is the web industry's annual recognition and achievement medium for the Quebec market, including business and consumer business sites, portals and web campaigns and innovations.

TELUS Mobility ranks #1 in North America in wireless industry in third quarter- 2004

Excellence in IT innovation - Canadian Information Productivity Awards - 2004
In November 2004, for the fourth year in a row, TELUS Mobility's Information Technology team won an Award of Excellence from the Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA). The team was recognized with a Silver Award representing an outstanding innovation in the category of efficiency and operational improvements for the successful implementation of Channel Self-Service. The unique Web-based toolkit allows dealers to provide faster and more comprehensive in-store service to TELUS Mobility clients. CIPA is one of the premier organizations showcasing Canadian IT and innovation excellence.

APEGGA Project Achievement Award - 2004
In April 2004, The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) awarded TELUS the APEGGA Project Achievement Award for the TELUS Next Generation Network (NGN) Project. This prestigious award is given to a project demonstrating engineering, geological or geophysical skills and representing a substantial contribution to technical progress and the betterment of society.

In 2002, TELUS had the vision for an IP-based network to carry a combination of voice, data, and video traffic. Today Next Generation Network (NGN) is a reality, and an industry-leading engineering accomplishment. TELUS is one of the first incumbent telecommunications companies in the world to deliver carrier-class long distance using this technology.

Award considerations for the project include the uniqueness relative to the application of engineering, geological or geophysical principles; the use of applied principles or innovations to traditional practices; the project process and whether it was built or executed by Canadian and Alberta labour, materials, methods or expertise; and finally the project location.

APEGGA regulates and licenses professional engineers, geologists and geophysicists in Alberta, maintains professional standards and upholds the professional code of ethics.

Best On-line Advertising, Lotus awards – 2003
In 2003, for a second year in a row, TELUS Web Solutions team received this best in class Lotus award, recognizing and celebrating the best in B.C. creative advertising.  TELUS Q3 Games advertising campaign beat 600 competitors to win. The Lotus Awards are an annual event to celebrate the best design and brand work across television, print, radio, and the Web, in the B.C. advertising industry. TELUS Mobility named Canada's leading wireless operator - Q3, 2003
TELUS Mobility has again been rated Canada's top wireless company by industry research firm N. Moore Capital Ltd. This is the fifth consecutive quarter that TELUS Mobility finished first among Canada's wireless operators.

Overall, the company ranked third in North America, behind only its U.S. strategic partners Verizon Wireless and Nextel Communications.

TELUS Mobility's rating is linked to its high subscriber and revenue growth, and to its excellent churn rate. The company's churn rate - a measure of overall customer satisfaction - was the lowest of all the companies surveyed in the second quarter of 2003: just 1.38 per cent per month, well below the 2.6 per cent median reported.

The independent survey by N. Moore Capital ranks 20 North American wireless operators across five key financial and operating indicators - subscriber growth; average revenue per user; customer churn; operating earnings per subscriber; and cost of acquisition.

Outstanding Merit Design Award for TELUS Mobility flagship store - 2003
TELUS Mobility won an Outstanding Merit Award in the 2003 NASFM (National Association of Store Fixtures and Manufacturing) Retail Design Awards program, for the design of its Montreal flagship retail store. The award, given in the Hardline Specialty store category, was presented to Burdiflek, a Toronto interior design firm. As reported in leading retail trade magazine Display & Design Ideas, the new TELUS Mobility store is a modern, open and very future-friendly design tucked inside a stately former bank building in downtown Montreal. Says Display & Design Ideas, "This store prototype demonstrates TELUS' unique 'future friendly' approach to digital wireless communicationB[a] self-supported 'house' structure creates a comfortable environment over the customer service area, visually unique graphic light elements and a custom-designed Web kiosk complete the package, making technology feel friendlier than ever."

Best National Fibre Optic Internet Network in Canada – 2002
Independent network analyst, NetConfigs Ltd. rated the TELUS Internet backbone as the best national fibre optic Internet network in Canada. This rating was based on how well efficiency, maintenance and connectivity ensured a smooth and rapid flow of data and IP traffic for customers.

Canada's Leading Wireless Operator - 2002
TELUS was rated the top wireless carrier in Canada and the third in North America, in an industry survey by wireless analyst Jeffrey Hines of N. Moore Capital Ltd. in March 2003. TELUS received this rating based largely on its excellent churn and subscriber growth numbers in the fourth quarter of 2002. The independent survey ranks 20 North American wireless operators across five key financial and operating indicators - subscriber growth; average revenue per user; customer churn; operating earnings per subscriber; and cost of acquisition.

Canada's second largest Web hosting company - 2002
In May, TELUS was ranked second in the Overall Canadian Web Hosting Market Revenue Leaders by The Convergence Consulting Group Ltd. TELUS was recognized as a fast-rising player, moving up to second place from third place in 2001 in the overall ranking. TELUS was also named first in shared hosting and second in both dedicated and application hosting. In its research, Convergence Consulting conducted hundreds of interviews with key hosting company personnel and equipment vendors. The research includes assessing the Canadian hosting market by shared, dedicated, co-location and application segments.

Most Innovative Billing, first place - 2002
TELUS Mobility received first place in Billing Magazine's "Most Innovative billing" category for our successful pay-per-use billing service. The pay-per-use infrastructure is used to support our Wireless Web services such as game playing, directory look-ups, and 2-way text messaging. Billing Magazine's awards program, now in its third year, recognizes operator excellence in the fields of billing and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Nominations for this year's awards were received from all corners of the globe, including Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Russia , Singapore and the United States.

Award of Excellence, Canadian Information Productivity Awards - 2002
In 2002, TELUS Mobility won an Award of Excellence from the Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA) for its Web Activations solution. The Web Activations solution allows TELUS Mobility clients to self-activate their newly purchased wireless phones in real time using the Web. As one of three winners in the Customer Care Solution category, TELUS was identified as a visionary organization making the most innovative and effective use of technology to address critical business needs. The CIPA Awards program is the largest business awards program in Canada in the field of information management.

Certificate, Media Innovation Award - 2002
In 2002, TELUS Web Solutions won a certificate in the Interactive category of the Media Innovation Awards program for the GlaxoSmithKline's Twinrix Vaccine online advertising campaign. The campaign included the use of a unique expanding, interactive advertisement format, great creative, and innovative media placement techniques such as using "airport code targeting" on travel sites to reach users who were planning trips to tropical destinations. The Media Innovation Awards program, sponsored by Marketing Magazine, recognizes Canadian media excellence, as exemplified through strategic and innovative ideas in the planning and buying of media.

e-business Innovator in Canada - 2002
The Next 21 profile in the National Post distinguished TELUS as an e-business Innovator in Canada, highlighting the work done through our Web Enable e.Demand initiative. Next 21 is a national program that identifies and recognizes leading Canadian companies with a "made-in-Canada" e-business success story. TELUS' e.Demand program deployed technology solutions for procurement, inventory and warehousing, collaborative forecasting and fulfillment aimed at streamlining processes.

Golden Click Web Award, Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association - 2001
In 2001, TELUS Web Solutions won the Golden Click Web Award for the Entertainment Season campaign for Tourism Vancouver. The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association awards program is an advertising, public relations and Web competition that showcases the very best in hospitality and travel advertising, embracing every area of the travel industry. The Golden Click Web Award was given based on an evaluation using criteria such as ease of use, quality of content, fulfillment of purpose, overall design and innovation.

The innovative Entertainment Season campaign was designed to encourage travel to Vancouver during the shoulder seasons, specifically winter. A promotion was developed online to advertise the winter months as "Entertainment Season," offering visitors accommodation and activity packages with participating member hotels, using Book Online functionality and an administrative toolset to dynamically generate promotion content.

Best Online Advertising Campaign and Best Business to Employee Extranet, Lotus awards - 2001
In 2001, TELUS Web Solutions received two Lotus Awards: one in the best online advertising campaign category for our "Sam Sierra" work with Sierra Wireless, and the second in the best business to employee Extranet category for ShipIt! The Lotus Awards are an annual event to celebrate the best design and brand work across television, print, radio, and the Web, in the B.C. advertising industry.
