International Association of Business Communicators Gold Quill Awards – June 2008
For the fourth consecutive year, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) recognized the TELUS annual report with its prestigious Gold Quill Award. TELUS’ 2006 annual report was acknowledged under the Communications Skills division.
The Gold Quill Awards are the mark of global distinction and a hallmark of excellence in business communications. They are the communication professional’s equivalent of the Oscars recognizing programs with clear strategies that demonstrate a full range of planning and management such as research, analysis and evaluation as well as the highest level of technical and creative skill.
Annual Report on Annual Reports - August 2007
TELUS 2006 annual report ranked among the best in the world according to a global survey of annual reports. The Annual Report on Annual Reports for 2007 awarded TELUS 4.5 out of five stars, which places our report in the First-Rate category and among the top one per cent in the world. Of the more than 500 annual reports reviewed for the survey, only two earned five stars while 11 were graded as 4.5 stars. TELUS is one of three Canadian companies and the only telecommunications company to achieve these top ratings.
The Annual Report on Annual Reports applauds TELUS as "one of those rare listed companies setting out the next year targets in the very first pages of its summary." It also likes how our chief financial officer has "introduced the financial report by insisting on responsible cash management" and how a table "checks out past-year performance versus previous targets, sets new targets and shows how these vary from the previous ones."

IR Magazine Best Communications award - February 2007
TELUS was recognized for "best communications with the retail market" in Canada during the 10th annual IR Magazine Awards. Comments about TELUS included "Very good at getting their message out, in all forms of media," and "Well laid-out and understandable annual report." TELUS also received honourable mentions in two other categories: best investor relations program for mega-cap (greater than $10 billion) and best annual report.
Winners were selected through on a comprehensive perception study conducted by IR Magazine, based on interviews with 250 Canadian investment professionals.
Award of excellence for best corporate governance disclosure - December 2006
The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) presented TELUS with the award of excellence for best corporate governance disclosure across all industry sectors. TELUS' governance disclosure was judged to be the best among all 90 entrants. TELUS consistently demonstrates a commitment to excellence in corporate governance through detailed disclosure of its practices in the shareholder proxy circular and on its website.
The CICA also awarded TELUS the award of excellence for corporate reporting in the communications and media sector for its 2005 annual report. TELUS received the sector's highest average ranking for its financial reporting, corporate governance disclosure and electronic disclosure. This is the 12th consecutive year the CICA has recognized TELUS for excellence in corporate reporting.
TELUS' 2005 annual report is number one in the world - August 2006
In August 2006, TELUS was recognized for having produced the best annual report in the world for 2005, according to the Annual Report on Annual Reports, the only international ranking of corporate annual reports. The Annual Report on Annual Reports evaluates 25 aspects of corporate reporting, including executive statements, strategic direction, outlook and targets, review of operations, social responsibility, risk factors and corporate governance. Now in its 10th year of surveying annual reports from around the world, enterprise.com, the Belgium-based organization controlled by U.S. Corporate Essentials, Inc., uses an independent, international rating panel to judge the annual reports and publishes the rankings for the top 300.
Award of Excellence for outstanding contribution to investor relations profession - July 2006
John Wheeler, vice-president, TELUS Investor Relations, received special recognition from
his peers at the 2006 Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI) Annual Investor Relations
Conference. This Award for Excellence honours individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the
investor relations profession and to the CIRI. A committee of previous winners selected John as the most
deserving recipient of this year's award after reviewing nominations made by CIRI members from across the country.

IR Magazine Awards for disclosure policy and annual report – 2006
In January 2006, IR Magazine rated TELUS the best in Canada in two areas: disclosure policy and 2004 annual report. TELUS also received honourable mentions in two other categories: best use of technology and best use of conferencing.
The IR Magazine Canada Awards recognize the top Canadian corporations’ investor relations communications achievements. The awards are based on:
- A telephone survey of 250 investment Canadian professionals.
- An online survey of 215 retail investors.
- A survey of 107 portfolio managers in the Unites States.
Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants recognizes TELUS with two awards - December 2005
In December, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) recognized TELUS with two awards: the Award of Excellence for Best Corporate Governance Disclosure across all industry sectors and the Award of Excellence for Corporate Reporting in the Communications and Media sector, which recognizes our 2004 Annual Report. This is the 11th consecutive year TELUS has been a recipient of one or more CICA awards for corporate reporting.
The CICA awards recognize superior reporting in four areas: annual reporting, electronic disclosure, corporate governance and sustainable development. The independent judges said TELUS goes above and beyond compliance requirements by providing thorough and well-tailored governance disclosure, incorporating many leading governance practices, including comprehensive executive compensation disclosure and the administration of an investor survey. The judges also commented that TELUS goes out of its way to provide detail above and beyond the required disclosure.
Top IR Innovator - Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute - 2005
John Wheeler, TELUS' vice-president of Investor Relations, was named top IR Innovator by the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI). The annual CIRI Best in Alberta Awards recognize outstanding practices in the field of investor relations in Alberta.
John and his IR team were recognized for the best practices demonstrated on TELUS' IR website, quality of disclosure and accessibility of management. Nominations were collected from members of CIRI Alberta, the media and Canada's investment community.
The CIRI is a professional association of executives responsible for communication among public corporations, investors and the financial community.
2004 TELUS Annual Report ranked No. 2 in the world - 2005 Annual Report on Annual Reports - 2005
In August, the 2004 TELUS Annual Report was ranked second worldwide by the 2005 Annual Report on Annual Reports, the only international survey and ranking of corporate annual reports. It was also rated second of all the companies reviewed for financial and performance reporting.
Commissioned by Belgium-based enterprise.com, the survey uses an independent, international panel to judge 1,100 annual reports. Judges commended the report for its stellar financial reporting, commenting that no other telecom company has reported as clearly in recent years.
TELUS ranked third in Top 25 Boards survey - Canadian Business magazine - 2005
In August, TELUS was ranked third in the Top 25 Boards in Canada survey by Canadian Business magazine. TELUS tied for third place, scoring 97 out of 100 possible points. In total, 228 publicly traded companies across all sectors were examined.
The annual survey evaluated companies on the basis of accountability, board independence, disclosure, and three-year return versus the TSX. TELUS scored top marks in accountability, board independence and three-year return versus the TSX categories.
The information used in the survey is primarily gathered from the companies' annual management proxy circulars distributed to shareholders in advance of the annual general meeting, as well as other sources where required. Canadian Business is Canada's best-selling business magazine.
TELUS Investor Relations recognized by Investor Relations Magazine - February 2005
The TELUS Investor Relations team received seven awards at Investor Relations Magazine's 2005 Canadian award ceremony. Each year, this prestigious international awards program identifies and celebrates the world's top corporations' investor relations communications achievements.

Best Canadian Investor Relations website - IR Web Report - 2004
In April 2004, the IR Web Report rated the TELUS' investor relations (IR) website as the best in Canada, for its excellent content breadth and depth, above average transparency and good shareholder services information. The addition of a top-notch corporate governance site, officially launched in January 2004 to proactively support TELUS best practices in corporate governance, was acknowledged as the reason for TELUS' advancement to first place from a second place ranking in 2003. IR Web Report's Global Rankings is a benchmark that measures the competitiveness of investor relations websites for the top 500 in the world.

In June 2004, the Annual Report on Annual Reports recognized TELUS for excellence in investor
relations communications. The 2003 TELUS Annual Report was ranked ninth globally out of the 1,000 selected
international companies reviewed in the 2004 Annual Report on Annual Reports, the only international survey
and ranking of corporate annual reports. The TELUS 2003 Annual Report was also rated the best of all Canadian
companies reviewed and the second best of North American companies reviewed.

In November 2003, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants once again recognized TELUS for excellence
in investor communications. Our 2002 annual report won the Communications and Media industry sector award.
This is the ninth consecutive year TELUS has been recognized. Unlike other years where Gold, Silver and
Bronze medals were awarded, this year only one award was given for each Toronto Stock Exchange industry
sector. As the winner, TELUS received high scores across all three judging categories: annual reporting,
electronic disclosure and corporate governance.
The CICA judging panel noted, "Overall TELUS has an outstanding report packed with performance measures,
targets, discussion on how TELUS delivered against these targets, industry and market challenges and
TELUS' commitment to full and fair financial disclosure and best practices in corporate governance."
North American Telecommunications Leader in Corporate Sustainability - 2003, 2002 and 2001
In September 2003, for the third year in a row, TELUS made the Dow Jones Sustainability Index list,
a worldwide corporate sustainability ranking of companies that are recognized as economic,
environmental and social leaders. Of the 317 companies included, we are one of 14 Canadian companies
and the only North American telecommunications company listed. Companies are chosen based on their
ability to create long-term shareholder value by embracing the principles of sustainable development
by balancing economic strength with environmental and social responsibility.
Silver Medal - 2000
TELUS was recognized for excellence in corporate reporting at the 2000 Annual Report Awards. TELUS received the bronze medal in 1999.
