One of Canada’s most admired companies - July 2008
In a survey conducted by The Beacon Group, Canadian executives were asked about the state of talent management in Canadian companies. TELUS and 22 other companies were recognized by these leaders for excellence in overall management of people and human capital during the past 12 months. When asked which Canadian companies they most admire for having effective internal people programs, more than 4,000 business executives consistently cited just 23 companies and TELUS is amongst this elite group.
SkillSoft 2008 Global Perspectives Awards - May 2008
SkillSoft, an international leader in eLearning, honoured TELUS with an Industry Achievement award at its 2008 Global Perspectives Awards gala. This prestigious award recognizes our commitment and global leadership in supporting team member growth and professional development.
The judging panel reviewed the internal learning programs and resources submitted from more than 100 international companies, but selected just five as being true innovators. TELUS ranked first, with UPS, Verizon, FedEx and Hitachi also receiving awards.
SkillSoft’s Global Perspectives Awards recognize organizations and individuals that have made significant and exemplary contributions within the e.learning industry. Its Industry Achievement award is given to organizations that have maintained a long-standing leadership role in training and development. TELUS is considered a leader because we have successfully linked learning and development to enhanced performance on the job.
American Society for Training and Development Best Award - October 2007
The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) has recognized TELUS with a BEST award, designating TELUS as one of the top organizations worldwide when it comes to using employee learning and development to drive enterprise-wide success. TELUS ranked third worldwide for enterprise learning and was one of only two Canadian companies to earn this prestigious award. This is TELUS' fourth BEST award; we were also recognized in 2003, 2004 and in 2005.
WorkLife BC Award of Merit - February 2007
TELUS was among three workplaces in the Greater Vancouver area recognized by the WorkLife BC advisory committee with the Award of Merit. The company was recognized for innovative health and wellness strategies. For instance, TELUS aims to influence the creation and enhancement of a healthy work environment by offering a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, conducting wellness expos and offering fitness programs in major TELUS buildings.
WorkLife BC is sponsored by the Ministry of Children and Family Development with a mission to recognize B.C. employers that support a healthy balance between work and family commitments.
Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, ROB/Caldwell Partners - 2005
In 2005, Kevin Salvadori, EVP and Chief Information Officer, was named to this prestigious annual Top 40 under 40 listing, recognizing individual leadership excellence. With this achievement, Kevin joins two other TELUS leaders previously selected to the Top 40 under 40 - Darren Entwistle (in 2000) and Joe Natale (in 2003).

For a second year in a row, TELUS leaders were recognized for excellence in Canada’s Top 100 most powerful Canadian women by the Women’s Executive Network: Karen Radford, EVP Partner Solutions and TELUS Quebec; Judy Shuttleworth, EVP Human Resources; and Janet Yale, EVP Corporate Affairs.
Program of the Year Award - 2005
In May 2005, TELUS received international recognition for leadership and development with the receipt of the Program of the Year award from SkillSoft, a leading provider of comprehensive e-learning content and technology products for business and IT professionals. The award acknowledged two of our programs - the corporate leadership program and the new hire training for team members in the Credit Services department. To be considered for the award, companies must demonstrate successful, measured results in terms of return on investment, increased usage, timeline for implementation, complexity and marketing strategy for programs.
Learning Leader of the Year - 2005
On March 17, 2005, TELUS' vice-president of Learning and Development, Josh Blair, was named Learning Leader of the Year at the Illuminati Awards hosted by international information solutions provider Thomson NETg. The annual awards program recognizes worldwide excellence in enterprise learning and is judged by an independent panel of industry experts. TELUS was the only Canadian award recipient in 2005 and the only company to have received an Illuminati award in two consecutive years. We won the Best Leadership Development Program award last year.

The Illuminati Awards recognize global excellence in learning and development. In 2004, TELUS was the only Canadian company to be selected by the esteemed selection committee, based on the merits of the company’s ability to identify business needs, deploy a training program that supports organizational objectives and demonstrate measurable outcomes.

In 2003, TELUS ranked seventh internationally for leadership in training and development practices. A prestigious award offered by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), BEST stands for Building talent, Enterprise-wide, Supported by the organizations' leaders, fostering a Through-and-Through learning culture. Of 23 BEST Award recipients, TELUS was the only Canadian company and the only telecommunications company honoured.

In 2002, TELUS achieved Gold Certification from Cisco Systems, Inc. by meeting or surpassing
stringent personnel, training, customer satisfaction, specialization and post sales support
requirements set forth by Cisco. The Cisco Channel Partner Program provides TELUS with the resource
framework and expertise to sell, plan, design, implement and operate Cisco networking solutions. As
a Gold Certified Partner, TELUS team members can access the Cisco Partner e.Learning Connection, an
Internet portal that provides comprehensive training, information and communication on Cisco
products. Complimenting the Cisco and TELUS co-branded portal, Team TELUS has access to Cisco
certifications through our strategic partnerships with NETg and Skillsoft.
