YWCA Woman of Distinction – September 2008
Karen Radford, executive vice-president and president, TELUS Québec and TELUS Partner Solutions, was presented with the award in the Business and Professions category at the 15th Women of Distinction Gala of the Women’s Y Foundation in Montreal. Karen has distinguished herself through her actions in the advancement of women and the enrichment of the community. She was one of 11 women who made their mark in different sectors of activity in 2008.

Canada's top chief financial officer - November 2007
Robert McFarlane, TELUS executive vice-president and chief financial officer, was recognized by an independent panel of judges for his outstanding career achievements and named Canada's top CFO in Canadian Business' All-Star Execs ranking.

He was acclaimed for having helped position TELUS through innovative and successful large financings, risk management and treasury activities to seize opportunities when they arise - and smoothly shift gears again when circumstances change. In addition, Robert was recognized for his dedication to improved financial transparency and disclosure.

Top 40 Employers in B.C. for 2008 - October 2007
TELUS has been selected as one of BC's Top 40 Employers for 2008 by Mediacorp Canada Inc. This special designation recognizes British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. The award is an acknowledgement of TELUS' community involvement and what the company offers team members in terms of flexible work options, competitive compensation and rewards, recognition, diversity and employment equity, learning and development and healthy living and wellness.

Companies considered for the BC Top 40 Employers list are evaluated using eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Global Dow Jones Sustainability Index - September 2007
TELUS has made the global Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the seventh straight year. The DJSI ranks the world's top economic, environmental and social leaders. Once again, TELUS is the only North American telecommunications company and one of just 10 Canadian businesses across all sectors included in the global index. This year, TELUS' score was among the highest awarded in the telecom sector and represents a major improvement over our 2006 results. Notably, the judges gave TELUS high marks for corporate governance, risk and crisis management, privacy protection, environmental reporting, human capital development and stakeholder engagement. Companies included in the DJSI ranking actively lead their industries in setting best practices in strategy, innovation, governance and relations with shareholders, employees and other stakeholders. The annual review is based on a thorough assessment of companies' performance and accounts for more than 50 general as well as industry-specific criteria.

Alberta's Most Respected Corporations - May 2007
TELUS was named one of Alberta's Most Respected Corporations by Alberta Venture readers. Voted first in the "Business Services" category in 2007, TELUS was honoured along with 32 other Alberta-based companies for their high level of respectability.

Alberta Venture surveyed 3,000 of its readers in March and April 2007. Participants were asked to rate the top three organizations and individuals in Alberta they deemed most respectable. Nominees were ranked based on corporate performance, culture of innovation, corporate brand, human resources practices, environmental stewardship and community involvement. In other words, awardees should demonstrate sustainable fiscal success, market leadership, great brand management and a strong commitment to its employees, community and environment.

Woman of the Year award - February 2007
Canadian Women in Communications (CWC) named Karen Radford, executive vice-president and president of TELUS Québec and TELUS Partner Solutions, as the 2007 recipient of its Woman of the Year award. She was recognized for her outstanding leadership and support of the advancement of women in both professional and volunteer spheres has had a significant influence on the industry.

Karen was one of four Canadian women and one communications-industry employer recognized for their contributions to the Canadian communications industry at the CWC Annual Awards Gala. The event celebrates the accomplishments of women in the communications industry and honours the organizations and individuals that have supported their aspirations.

As president of TELUS Québec, Karen Radford leads a dynamic team that serves business and consumer customers in the province. Over the last three years, she has also led TELUS Partner Solutions, which offers telecommunications services to local, North American and international clients and partners. Karen is a national advisor to Youth in Motion and Women in Motion, leads the TELUS Montreal Community Board and serves a member of the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.

Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100™ - November 2006
TELUS executives Karen Radford, executive vice-president and president of TELUS Québec and Partner Solutions, Judy Shuttleworth, executive vice-president of Human Resources, and Janet Yale, executive vice-president of Corporate Affairs, were among the business woman named to The Women's Executive Network list of 2006 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100™. An independent advisory board selected the TELUS executives for their career successes as well as their dedication to bettering their communities.

TELUS included on Dow Jones Sustainability World Index – 2006
In September 2006, for the sixth consecutive year, the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), a global corporate sustainability ranking, recognized TELUS as an economic, environmental and social leader. Once again, TELUS is the only North American telecommunications company included in the global index. The annual review is based on a thorough assessment of companies’ performance. This year, TELUS received a perfect score for its environmental reporting. Other areas for which the judges gave TELUS high marks include: environmental management, risk and crisis management, human capital development, talent attraction and retention, stakeholder engagement and social reporting.

Seventh on Canadian Business Top 25 Boards survey - July 2006
TELUS was recognized for excellence in corporate governance by Canadian Business magazine's Top 25 Boards in Canada survey. TELUS tied with two other companies for the number seven spot, scoring 85 out of 100 possible points. TELUS was the only communications company in the top 25 ranking.

The annual survey evaluates companies on the basis of accountability, board independence, disclosure, and three-year return versus the Toronto Stock Exchange. TELUS #1 for directory assistance - June 2006
For the third time in three years, TELUS was named the top national directory assistance provider in a 2006 audit of customer service in the directory assistance industry. The Paisley Group, a directory assistance/operator services consulting company, conducted the North American audit, also naming TELUS one of the top three third-party providers in the U.S.

Scoring was based on three major industry measurements: customer care - how effectively operators listen; customer fulfillment - how accurately operators provide listings; and passed calls - how efficiently operators care for customers.

Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ - May 2006
Karen Radford, executive vice-president and president, TELUS Québec and TELUS Partner Solutions, was named a recipient of the 2005 Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ Award. Karen was among those honoured in the national award program, which recognizes 40 Canadians from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors who have reached a significant level of success - all before they have reached their 40th birthday. Karen and her peers were selected by an independent advisory board of business leaders across Canada, who considered 1,400 nominations.

Alberta Venture magazine awards - May 2006
TELUS was named one of the most respected corporations in Alberta in two categories - Culture of Innovation and Community Involvement - by Alberta Venture magazine. The business magazine, with the assistance of Leger Research, conducted a province-wide poll of 2,500 business owners and managers to identify the corporations that exemplify honesty, foresight, leadership, focus and accountability in six different areas of expertise. TELUS was one of just two companies honoured in two categories.

Nymity's Top Privacy Policies Award - May 2006
Nymity Inc., a Canadian privacy research firm, has ranked TELUS' privacy policy number one in the Canadian telecommunications industry. TELUS is also amongst the top five Canadian companies with superior, clear and easily accessible privacy policies. Nymity assessed hundreds of organizations from eight key business sectors: telecommunications, retail, financial services, banking, insurance, media, consumer services and business services.

Women's Business Network Businesswoman of the Year award - March 2006
Janet Yale, TELUS executive vice-president of Corporate Affairs, was named Businesswoman of the Year (corporate category) by the Women's Business Network (WBN) of Ottawa for her outstanding achievements in business and contributions in the community.

The WBN awards recognize leading businesswomen for their entrepreneurial spirit, exceptional leadership and innovation. There are three award categories - corporate, entrepreneur, and professional. For more information on the WBN and the awards, visit the WBN website.

Canada’s Most Respected Corporations – Top 25 – 2006
In January 2006, for the second consecutive year, TELUS was named one of the 25 most respected corporations in the Annual Canada's Most Respected Corporations Survey.  In this survey of 250 Canadian CEOs, TELUS was ranked 20th nationally and first amongst B.C.-based companies.  Of the eight performance categories the survey measures, TELUS scored high marks in the 'Innovation and Product/Service Development' area.

A gold for quality at Canada Awards for Excellence - 2005
In October 2005, TELUS received a Gold Trophy for quality at the Canada Awards for Excellence, presented by the National Quality Institute (NQI). The Gold Trophy is awarded to organizations demonstrating excellence in leadership, planning, customer and people focus, process management, supplier and partner focus, overall business and financial performance. The evaluation standards are high and TELUS is one of only four Canadian companies to receive the Gold Trophy in 2005. Winners of Canada Awards for Excellence have reported expanding market share, increased efficiency, enhanced international competitiveness, reduced costs and higher employee retention and productivity. NQI’s research shows that private sector winners dramatically out-perform the TSE, S&P and the Dow Jones consistently over time.

Excellence in corporate sustainability - Dow Jones Sustainability Index - 2005
In October 2005, for the fifth consecutive year, TELUS was recognized for excellence in corporate sustainability by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), a worldwide corporate sustainability ranking. With this distinction, TELUS is recognized as an economic, environmental and social leader. Companies included in the DJSI ranking actively lead their industries in setting best practices in strategy, innovation, governance and relations with shareholders, employees and other stakeholders. The annual review is based on a thorough assessment of companies' performance. The results influence the investment decisions of asset managers in 14 countries who use the DJSI as an objective benchmark for a variety of sustainability-driven portfolios.

One of Canada's Most Respected Corporations - 2005
In January 2005, TELUS was recognized as one of Canada's top 25 most respected corporations of 2004, by the prestigious Ipsos-Reid Annual Survey of Canada's Most Respected Corporations. TELUS' 2004 ranking of 22 compares with a ranking of 31 for 2003. TELUS was also ranked eight (out of 10) for 2004 in the category of Innovation and Product/Service Development. The Ipsos-Reid Survey of Canada's Most Respected Corporations, which is sponsored by KPMG, primarily measures how Canadian CEO's regard their peers and the organizations in which they lead and manage. The purpose of the survey is to highlight respect and integrity in corporate Canada and acknowledge the companies that exemplify these values.

One of Canada's top 10 for best corporate privacy policies - 2005
In May 2005, TELUS was ranked second in corporate privacy policies by Nymity Inc., a leading Canadian privacy educator and consultant. Nymity identified the top 10 performers in Canada using its National Privacy Policy Index, a tool that assists privacy officers in assessing and managing their companies' privacy policies. The criteria included consent practices, individual access, accountability and safeguards. The policies of the top 10 companies represent the best practices in business and demonstrate where other companies may be falling short and exposing their businesses to risk and potentially high costs.

Excellence in corporate reporting - best annual report in Canada - Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants - 2004
In December 2004, TELUS was recognized for excellence in corporate reporting by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). TELUS was given the Award of Excellence for the best Annual Report in Canada, across all industry sectors. The 2003 TELUS Annual Report also received the Award of Excellence in the Communications and Media sector. The CICA awards program recognizes superior corporate reporting in four areas: annual reporting; electronic disclosure; corporate governance; and sustainable development. The independent judging panel includes members of the CICA, the Canadian Investors Relations Institute and the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts. According to the judging panel, our corporate reporting practices were above and beyond the required disclosure, clearly demonstrating TELUS' key goals of accountability and transparency.

Excellence in corporate sustainability - Dow Jones Sustainability Index - 2004
In October 2004, for the fourth year in a row, TELUS was recognized for excellence in corporate sustainability by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), a worldwide corporate sustainability ranking. TELUS was designated an economic, environmental and social leader. Of the 318 companies included, TELUS was one of 13 Canadian companies and the only North American telecommunications company listed. Inclusion in the corporate sustainability ranking is based on a company's ability to create long-term shareholder value through sustainable development achieved by balancing economic strength with environmental and social responsibility. Companies are chosen to be included in the DJSI ranking for their ability to create long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.

Gold Award in Finance Credit Risk - Treasury and Risk Management Magazine - 2004
In October 2004, the TELUS Credit Services team was recognized with the Alexander Hamilton Awards (AHA) Gold Medal distinction in the category of Credit Risk Management. The award recognizes the impressive accomplishments of the Credit Services team in 2003 for a successful consolidation of call centres and innovative use of technology to make process and systems changes to ensure outstanding financial performance on Accounts Receivable portfolios. The AHA were initiated by Treasury & Risk Management Magazine to celebrate innovative and successfully executed treasury projects at companies across the United States and Canada.

Awareness of TELUS brand number one in Canada - 2003
As reported in Marketing magazine, Montreal-based Leger Marketing ranked awareness of the TELUS brand as number one in Canada.

Leger's independent report examined advertising for all products and services in Canada, and found in its survey of 1,500 Canadians that awareness of the TELUS brand beat even such heavyweights as McDonald's, Blockbuster and Bell Canada. Not only are TELUS ads top of mind for Canadians, the report also finds that people really like them. Throughout the year, TELUS was in the top five best-liked ads in Quebec, B.C. and Ontario.

A number of factors contribute to making TELUS ads both popular and memorable. The straightforward and consistent use of nature-themed imagery, clean white backgrounds and appealing music is a formula that works well within both the business and consumer segments.

Star Rating for our Company Name "TELUS" - 2003
In January 2003, our company name - TELUS - was given a star rating in a global survey by ABC Namebank. In a survey of 5,000 major international corporate names, ABC Namebank analyzed each name based on its marketing power, image, ownership and trustworthiness in four categories: suitability; personality; respectability; and "registrability." Of the 5,000 company names included in the survey, TELUS was one of only a handful of corporations that achieved a star rating. In a National Post article about the survey, a star corporate name was cited as being: one of a kind, powerful, globally protected and having an identical DotCom. In addition to TELUS, other corporations that received a star ranking for their names were Sony, Microsoft, Playstation and the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

BC’s Most Respected Company – 2002
In 2002, TELUS was named British Columbia’s Most Respected Company in BC Business Magazine’s annual listing of leading companies in the province.

One of Canada's Top 10 Employers - 2002
In January 2002, TELUS was named one of Canada's top 10 companies to work for by the Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine for exceptional employee commitment, energy and expertise. Using a thorough and extensive screening process, the survey, compiled by Hewitt Associates for the Globe and Mail, compared employment conditions at 161 companies across the country. TELUS was the only telecommunications company in the top 50, and one of just two large employers in the top 10. Alberta's Most Respected Corporation - 2002
TELUS was honoured as one of Alberta's Most Respected Corporations for 2002 by Alberta Venture magazine. We were among seven companies that made the top list, which recognizes our leading business practices such as financial performance, innovation and customer relationships. The survey of the Most Respected Corporations identifies the organizations that are recognized by their peers as possessing leading-edge business practices and philosophies.

One of Canada's "Top Ten Marketers that Mattered" - 2001
TELUS was rated one of Canada's "Top Ten Marketers that Mattered" by Marketing Magazine in December 2001 for advertising and branding leadership, innovation, executional clout and market influence. In the December 17 cover story, Marketing Magazine said: "TELUS is now speaking with one clear voice when just a year ago (it) was a jumble of different company names."

Most Respected Company in B.C. - 2001
In September 2001, TELUS was rated the Most Respected Company in B.C., based on a survey of 800 British Columbians that was conducted by Ipsos-Reid. The most important factor in selecting respected companies was the quality of service that company provides to its customers. The second most important factor was how well the company treats its employees.

One of Top 100 Employers, B.C. Business Magazine - 2001
TELUS ranked second in the B.C. Business Magazine Top 100 Employers list for 2001, making the list for the second year in a row. The Top 100 Employers list, which ranks companies on the basis of revenues, is compiled by Price Waterhouse Coopers using responses from questionnaires completed by B.C.-headquartered companies and publicly available information for these companies.
